It’s Thursday. And it’s naptime. Perfect reason to bring out the 2 INGREDIENT homemade magic shell.
2 INGREDIENTS!!!! And you probably have them both in your pantry.
Melted coconut oil + cocoa powder
YES, THAT IS IT!!! Because coconut oil hardens when cold, it makes for the perfect hard shell. All you need is cocoa powder. It is not sweet, but I have found you really don’t need it to be when you are putting it on super sweet, sugary ice cream. I suppose you could add a tbs of maple syrup if you want to try and make it sweeter but I truly don’t think you need it. Y’all, it is DIVINE. I have been doing it for a few years now and haven’t bought magic shell from the store since.
I usually do like 2-3 tbs coconut oil and 2-3 tbs cocoa powder. You can totally experiment with what works best for you. You can make a little batch and then just keep it on your counter for *ice cream emergencies*!!! If it hardens at all, just pop it in the microwave.
Please do tell me if you try this. And tell everyone you know because it’s starting to get hot outside and ice cream without magic shell is just lonely and naked in my opinion. Give your ice cream some dignity!
