This has become my favorite way to drink Vital Proteins. I started doing this when Nate and I went to San Diego. It seemed like the perfect way to get some extra protein and vitamin C when traveling, which is much needed because our children sleep terribly on vacation. Now I drink it daily! I love this because it’s super refreshing, hydrating, requires zero equipment, and gives me a much needed vitamin boost. I used to use Emergen-C in this drink but have recently switched to using Ultima instead. I like the taste better and it has less stuff in it I don’t need. I drink this M-F when I workout before breakfast/coffee.
Vital Proteins backstory: while pregnant with Millie, I noticed how terrible my nails were. Chipping off and thin as could be. So, I decided to try collagen to help. And WOW. It actually worked. Like within a month my nails were growing and as strong as ever. I was convinced and have used it ever since. I try and buy it at Costco (that’s the best price around for Vital Proteins) and when it is no longer there I will likely subscribe on their website. All that to say, I love it!
Now, back to the…
Truth be told, I don’t measure the water amounts at all, just do half of each, but put them for those that love measurements. Also, you don’t have to use coconut water! I just love it. Feel free to use all regular water if you like. You can also swap the Ultima for Emergen-C or just do water, coconut water, and collagen.
I make three of these at a time and store in the fridge. Simply add ice when it’s time to drink it. This is the first thing I have most mornings when I do my morning workout.
Just a little idea if your needing some extra hydration on these hot summer days. It is so refreshing!
1 scoop vital proteins; (I like raspberry and orange the best)
12 oz. room temp water
12 oz. coconut water
1 scoop Ultima electrolytes
Tons of ice
Mom to four wonderful little people. While they sleep, I cook.
Have you ever added fresh lemon juice? I see so many people swearing by lemon water as a way to start their day (often followed by lofty claims of helping them lose 10 pounds and clear up their skin and conquer the world with copious amounts of energy.) But hey! You never know…
Haha! I personally have not but I bet it would be a nice addition.
