John Robert broke his arm at school today bad enough they called an ambulance to get him to the hospital quickly. Nate was able to get to the school in time to ride along with him, and I followed in the car. When we arrived I texted my parents to let them know what was going on. My dad replied, “Which hospital?”
Within 30 minutes, he was there.
And he stayed for the next 4 hours.
Everyone talks about parenting young kids.
Don’t miss out on the little years!
Make the core memories!
But today had me thinking about the really big kids — the adults.
They’re a parent, but they also need a parent.
They have someone to care for, but also secretly need caring for.
Today, my dad was simply there.
For Johnny. But also, for me.
And at 37, that’s a core memory I get to hold.
Mom to four wonderful little people. While they sleep, I cook.
