Hi there! I’m back again with Batch Breakfast Idea #3 for you! We all know a yogurt parfait. Nothing shocking there. But the beauty in this one comes in saving some cash by making your own, these specific containers, and letting your kids get creative. Bonus: you can use frozen fruit (#ballinonabudget) and store brand plain yogurt (save some sugar) to make these. You can make a few at once and simply store them in the fridge.
I love these little ziplock twist and lock 1 cup plastic containers (they are labeled “extra small” size). The lids screw on and they won’t break or have the lid come off if on in a lunchbox or if your child drops them.
You might have to do some trial and error to find what your child likes. For instance, if they want the granola extra crunchy, add it on top. If they want it to soften some, put it in the middle. Chia seeds will coagulate and soften which some kids will like; Scout didn’t like the texture that way. Another great way to add some fun flavor and color is to add strawberry or any other flavor of jam. Have fun with it!
Some things you could try to jazz it up:
???? Any cereal they like, granola (we love @purelyelizabeth), or plain oats
???? Fun toppings like sprinkles or mini chocolate chips
???? A drizzle of honey
???? Seeds like hemp and chia
???? A spoonful of jam
???? Any nuts they enjoy
Really here, it’s about letting them have some creativity and try something new. If they make one and don’t like it, no sweat. Keep it and throw it in the next smoothie….trust me. They won’t even notice it in there!
