1. Turn the lights as low as I possibly can. NO overhead lights allowed.
2. Light a candle. Oftentimes I will turn off all the lights and simply bathe by candlelight.
3. Play spa music. Recently we moved our old Alexa into the bathroom and I love it! I like that I can have it play music and I don’t need my phone around. My exact cue is “Alexa, play relaxing spa music,” to which she answers, “Here’s stress relief from Spotify.”
4. Fill the bath with epsom salt. I keep a tub of it with a scoop by the bath that is equal parts plain epsom salt + lavendar. I like this because the scent isn’t as strong and plain salt is cheaper. (You could also do lavender essential oil if you prefer.)

5. Use your fancy products. You know the ones – the delicious smelling body wash you don’t want to waste…the expensive shampoo. The spa is the time to use those products you are constantly saving for a “special occasion.”

6. Bring a giant glass of super cold iced water with lemon. You could also bring in a glass of wine – a crisp white wine in the bath?! YES.
7. Bring in a small bowl of chocolate chips or a bowl of ice cream. Optional, but also #treatyoself.

8. Implement the “whisper rule”. Much like you wouldn’t talk in your normal voice in the spa waiting room, and the masseuse always whispers, “ok, it’s time to turn to your back,” when a child comes in to talk to me I *whisper* to them, “I’m sorry, could you please lower your voice? I’m at the spa.”

9. Once I am out of the bath, I put on my robe. Spas always have a robe!
10. I move on to doing my skincare as slowly as I can. You never rush out of the spa!
I hope this helps you enjoy your nighttime routine, and gives you freedom to pamper yourself even if that’s just a fancy bath, a cold treat, and using the fancy products sitting on your shelf.
Happy spa-ing!
