Posting this hot lemon ginger water because so many of you are loving it and I am so glad! It is so easy. You could add cayenne, or turmeric, or ACV. But personally drinking ACV makes me wanna puke. Ha! I keep it simple with just three ingredients.
Ok, so the key is the use of the yeti-type cup. I go ahead and boil the water first thing in the morning while I am drinking my coffee. I then throw the ginger chunk, 1 tbs of lemon juice, and large spoonful of honey in and stir. This will be hot for HOURS. I don’t even attempt to sip it until around 10am. My favorite thing to do is go ahead and stick it in the car so that when we head out it is there waiting for me. A warm treat.
*In the picture above is a spoon sticking out of the cup. NOT a metal straw. I would not drink this with a metal straw unless you desire to severely burn your mouth.
THE GINGER: I buy whole ginger, peel it, cut it into little chunks (approx. 1/2”) but it really doesn’t matter, then freeze them. I throw one (or two if they are small) into the drink. Some of the ginger in my container shown is grated, leftover from a recipe. Reall, ginger peeled and cut in any form will do!
THE LEMON JUICE: I buy organic pure lemon juice from whole foods. Whatever brand is on sale that week.
THE HONEY: We use honey from our bees. I highly suggest local honey if you are able for the allergy benefits, but if you can’t that’s ok too and honey in general will make your throat feel so lovely.
I have loved seeing so many of you sip on it!
