I no longer fear flying. No jitters at takeoff. No deep anxiety or pit in my stomach. Dare I say I have come to the point I actually enjoy it.
This was not always the case. In my book I share how I used to be absolutely terrified of air travel, so much so that I needed medication on multiple flights.
Flying is one of the biggest ways I have come to see that God is deeply practical. I prayed a lot about my anxiety, but at the end of the day, the biggest thing that helped my anxiety was flying. A lot. In 2023 I took twelve flights in one month. This year, I took seven in two weeks. And with each flight, my muscle for flying grows. With each flight, I visualize God’s palm under the plane, guiding it.
I see His hand in the matter, and I also see how me doing the thing matters.
So much of life is this way — both spiritual and practical. Sometimes you don’t like your house because you’re struggling with contentment, and other times you just need to grab a donation bag, pull out the vacuum, and wipe down the counters. Both can be true.
Sometimes God answers a prayer, and sometimes when you just do it, you see your prayer answered. He’s practical like that. It’s something I love most about Him ❤️
