Scout and Millie have slowly started to come to my bathroom for “blush and lippy.” These are the two things they know they have free rein with in my drawer.
When I watch them, I see these teeny tiny glimpses of the women they are slowly becoming, and at the same time the way they clumsily apply the makeup points to how young they still are. It’s a moment of juxtaposition I am relishing.
I know they say raising little girls is hard, in this digital age more than ever. But I pray this little area, where they get to apply their bits of makeup, becomes a safe space for conversations to unfold.
Mom to four wonderful little people. While they sleep, I cook.
