Beginning in 2021, our family started the long awaited process of adding onto our home. We went from a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house to a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom house. This included a Primary Suite for Nate and I along with an office. We also spruced up some of our already existing spaces like the girls’ bathroom, our old bedroom which became John Robert’s room, and our living room.
Our contractor was Frankie Rogers of Rogers Custom Builders. This is not a sponsored post; he has no idea I am writing it! But if you are looking to do an addition/renovation in the Charleston area, I cannot recommend him enough.
I hope to share a series of blog posts outlining all of the details of our renovation. This first one is all about our bedroom! I will include links and as many details as I can if you are in the market for similar items. It truly was so fun picking everything out and customizing the things to fit the needs of our family. I wanted to include the office in this post, but unfortunately we are still waiting on some furniture. For those wanting to know, the office is painted Farrow and Ball Calke Green at 25% in satin, and the trim is high gloss of that same color. I also wanted to share the closet, but we ran into a big leak issue so half of the walls are currently ripped out and giant fans are blowing. So fun.
But good news: I CAN share the bedroom! FYI: most of the links below are affiliate links. This means that if you shop through them, I make a very small percentage at no cost to you. Thank you in advance if you use any of them!
First up, paint color. If you followed along on Instagram, you know that this decision gave me analysis paralysis. The office in particular gave me the hardest time but I am so pleased with what we went with! I ended up playing around with color percentages in already existing paint formulas to find the perfect shade for us. When you ask for a paint color at 75% or 50%, it just means that it will be slightly less saturated than it is at the full percentage. Maybe you found the perfect color but because of the lighting in the room, the shade is a bit too intense. This is just a way to tone down a color to fit the room’s needs. However I must warn you! I learned the hard way that when you change the percentage, the sample size is less accurate. Just keep that in mind.
WALLS AND CEILING: Alabaster White by Sherwin Williams
TRIM: Accessible Beige at 75% by Sherwin Williams
FLOORING: Carbonized Strand Smooth Wide Plank Engineered Click Bamboo Flooring 3/8″ x 5 1/8″. We used this flooring throughout the entire addition. It really matches the pre-existing floors in the house well.
FAN: Minka 62″ Fan with a 36″ downrod
BED: St. James Panel Bed in Antique Natural (this was our wedding gift from my grandparents and it is a truly incredible bed)
MATTRESS: Engineered Sleep ES Duo Mattress with 4″ Villa Topper at the time of me writing this, I have a code for 15% off at Engineered Sleep! Code is “NAPTIME”)
BEDDING: The coverlet is restoration hardware that they unfortunately don’t make anymore. It’s pretty old and I’m thinking about getting something new soon. Similarly, the exact sheets we have are no longer available but these are super similar. Mine are peach striped whereas these are navy. I do not have a strong allegiance to my sheets, but they have been good to us over the years. To be honest, I haven’t found my ride or die bed sheets or bedding in general, but as soon as I do, you all will be the first to know.
BEDSIDE TABLES: Grace Two-Drawer Side Table in soft blue grey. I love the drawers for the extra storage.
PRINT ABOVE BED: Southern Oaks by Ballard Design framed canvas. This used to hang in our breakfast room, and it works so well in here!
RUG: Chris Loves Julia x Loloi Polly Collection in the 9 x 13 size. However I really could have gone with the 10 x 14 size in our room.
LAMPS: Threshold x Studio McGee Large Ceramic Table Lamp in Gray
LEATHER CHAIR/OTTOMAN: We actually found this as a local consignment and I absolutely love it! I did find the original and linking it here: Irving Roll Arm Leather Chair
Still on the hunt/in process:
Curtains for the giant window.
A side table and lamp to go by the leather chair.
And there you have it! I hope this is helpful to those of you in the market for bedroom furniture and decor. We are so excited to finally be back home!
Mom to four wonderful little people. While they sleep, I cook.
I love your bedroom. It is so refreshing to see a simple lovely design. IG is flooded with overly decorated bedrooms with 100 pillows! That is not how I want to live my life, but I always feel like I’m not doing it right. I love uncluttered and clean design.
Beautiful! For curtains that are excellent quality and very affordable price, check out Half Price Drapes brand on Amazon. I’ve bought their faux linen blackout curtains for all our bedrooms, and I swear they are the best bang for your buck. You can order free sample swatches on the HPD website, and then buy your curtains on Amazon. I researched to the ends of the internet for affordable good curtains, and found HPD brand to be the best. I also noticed HPD is the manufacturer and supplier for many curtains sold under different brand names on Wayfair, etc but for more $$$. I don’t work for them, just a SAHM here. I also bought additional blackout liner curtains (Nice Town? Brand) to put behind the faux linen blackout curtains for extra darkness. You’ll love HPD!
