Last night, my dear friend Lilly came over. She brought dinner. Brought wine. Brought a fresh, vibrant plant. Brought bubbles for the kids. Ate with me. Served us all dessert. Helped play with the toddlers while I put Millie to bed. Then, sent me off to take a hot shower while she proceeded to clean the kitchen.
By the time you have kids, you know exactly what another mom needs, but unfortunately it can prove difficult to provide those things because you have a family of your own.
Over these last few years, I have found that friends not yet with children who are able to perceive the needs of a mom with children are rare unicorns. They have this magical sixth sense to know there’s a dishwasher that needs unloading and laundry that needs folding. If you’ve got one, be sure to thank him/her. They are some of life’s greatest treasures ????
Mom to four wonderful little people. While they sleep, I cook.
