One of the questions I get all the time (even when not pregnant) is how I eat healthy in the first trimester. Short answer: I don’t.
Friends, if you are pregnant, that means your child hasn’t even been born yet. You will have plenty (plenty!!!) of opportunities to feel guilt and regret over decisions you make. Let’s not have the guilt start over ordering Chick-fil-a instead of eating an organic farm-to-table salad.
If you truly cannot stomach any veggies, please don’t beat yourself up. The only way I have been able to get some in is through smoothies and my sisters homemade chicken pot pie. In the latter form, I am honestly not sure how much good the peas and carrots immersed in pastry and butter are doing, but man is it good for the soul.
I don’t think you need to hear me say this, but just in case anyone wants to take this too literally: I am not a doctor. This is not medical advice. This is simply one mom telling you this is not the time to be a hero.
So rip open that box of easy mac or make grilled cheeses for the third time that week. It’s a season. You will want vegetables again. This won’t last forever. You will rise from the pizza crust ashes. Keep going, you cereal eating warrior ????
Mom to four wonderful little people. While they sleep, I cook.
