While this is extremely flattering, I also find it to be comical because the truth is I actually have no idea how the nuts and bolts of instagram growth actually work. But here’s what I do know:
Everything I have ever read about the Instagram algorithm and success of an account has to do with daily posting and engagement on the app. You need to post often. And those posts need to be valuable. And be sure to make time to interact with your audience. And answer those DMs. And be active in your stories.
But here’s the thing that instagram won’t tell you: while this might grow your following, it does very little for the growth of your soul. And in the end, what does it even matter if you’re so wrapped up in the numbers you can’t enjoy the real life surrounding you?
While this is not a popular opinion (and likely very unhelpful for those of you really seeking for your accounts to grow), I say: screw the algorithm. Take days off. Unplug as many weekends as you need to. Set boundaries.
There’s a high chance your engagement will suffer, but hopefully you will walk away with a more engaged heart to what matters.
