I had someone recently make a comment about how giving my child candy corn was poisoning them. They were saying it in jest, but I also think they meant it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here is why candy corn is one of the healthiest things for me to have in my home:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Candy corn reminds me that I have food freedom. What I eat does not define who I am, nor does it hold moral value over me.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Candy corn has zero nutritional value. However, it has immense value for me in how it represents a particular season and memories from my childhood.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Candy corn sits on my shelf. I grab a few if I want them. I go a week without eating a single one. There’s a chance some gets tossed from the jar after Halloween.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Candy corn is just that. It is candy. It’s part of what makes life sweet. Scout loves it. John Robert doesn’t care for it. And Millie has yet to ask about it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I hope it remains this way for them. Not something to overcomplicate. Simply a fun food symbolic of a certain season ????
