While not everyone here shares the same beliefs (something I love and welcome in this space), I gotta say love it when two holidays that feel in juxtaposition land on the same day. Valentine’s with its festive pink and indulgence and candy. And Ash Wednesday, with its subdued grey and fasting and repentance.
During Lent, people go out of their way to do or give up something to help see their need for God. On Valentines, people go out of their way to do something to show their love for another. During Lent, we are reminded of our deep need for God, and on Valentine’s Day we can be reminded of God’s deep love for us.
As somber as Ash Wednesday is, it begins the period leading up the most passionate display of love the world has ever known. Better than any chocolate or rose, Jesus gives himself and promises to love us forever. And not because of any good we have done, but because of what He did. We don’t have to prove ourselves lovable, because His love has called us lovely.

So true!! So thankful for His love…the GREATEST love of all!
Everything else pales in comparison!
Kate, I love your thoughts on this and how those 2 days can be so opposite, but so alike at the same time.

Love this! I gave up social media for lent so I’m happy to get the Nap Times for a little update. Thanks for sharing your faith boldly!
I’m so glad you’re loving getting Power Nap updates still. Thank you for your kindness!
