Allow me to make a case for why showering in a dark bathroom is life changing.
We are around so much stimuli all day long. Screens and schedules and news and notifications and kids and the list goes on and on. We need a break, but a trip to the spa isn’t in the cards. Enter: #showerinthedark
I light a candle or I turn down the lights as dim as they will go, put on Spotify’s “Peaceful Piano” Playlist (or my “It Is Well” playlist if it’s been particularly hard and I need to listen to some good truth), and just let the hot water do its work. I cannot explain it but the lack of lights make such a massive difference. Like when the lights turn down my brain volume turns down with it. My muscles loosen, my tired eyes relax. I can feel the Lord washing the muck of the day away…stresses and mistakes circling down the drain.
Next time you feel fried, get the lights as low as you feel safe, play music you love or go without, and take a shower in the dark. Trust me. It’s some of the cheapest therapy out there 🚿
