NTK Breakfast Smoothie

Having a smoothie for breakfast was a new thing for me in 2020. I would always see people drinking a big nutritious smoothie for breakfast but couldn’t it make happen for myself. I thought I would love to start my day with greens and a nutrient packed smoothie but it just never worked for me. Until this past year and THIS smoothie! Similar to most of my recipes and drinks, the METHOD is what matters here.

I prep the ingredients ahead of time and pre-blend one for the next day so I don’t have to prep and make it every single morning. This will make me 2 x 32 oz smoothies (I have a 64 oz. blender) Linked here. I want to make breakfast easier. Every other day I basically have a grab and go breakfast. For the first morning, after I blend, I pour it into a big cup and drink. Then for the remaining half, I pour into a large mason jar. This will then go into the refrigerator for the next day. The next morning, I grab it, shake it and drink it and I’m set! I do this prep work 3x a week but get a smoothie every single morning out of this process. 

I will say, having a powerful blender makes all the difference in the world here. Especially when it comes to the “next day smoothie.” The Vitamix is so powerful the smoothie is creamy with ZERO chunks or grit. This is not sponsored, its just the truth. I know the price point of a high end blender can be hard to swallow, but it truly out performs blenders like Ninja, Hamilton Beach, and the Nutribullet. Honestly, there is no comparison. 

Blend once, drink twice! One day you have to blend but the next day your breakfast is grab and go! It truly is all about the method here. Oh and how delicious it tastes 🤤

 

YOU WILL NEED:

  • 1 apple cut up
  • 1/2 frozen banana (can do a whole if you prefer)
  • Handful frozen avocado chunks. I get mine from Costco
  • 2 scoops of vanilla protein powder. I use Aloha
  • ~1 tsp cinnamon (I get mine at Costco for a great price)
  • 2 c unsweetened vanilla almond milk or whatever your milk preference is
  • 1 bag of frozen spinach (16 oz.) or 3-4 handfuls of fresh spinach
  • 1 – 2 c water (up to your preference for consistency)
  • 1 c ice (optional)

 

TO MAKE:

  1. Add apple, banana, avocado chunks, protein powder, cinnamon, almond milk to the blender. This will fill up a 64 oz blender up about halfway
  2. Blend together. While it is blending, add in the frozen spinach, 1 cup water, 1 cup ice in tandem
  3. Continue to blend until it is the consistency you want
  4. Enjoy half of the smoothie today. Pour the other half into a large mason jar and refrigerate
  5. The next day, grab the smoothie in the fridge from the day before, shake it and enjoy. Breakfast to-go!

Directions

  • Step 5 The next day, grab the smoothie from the day before, shake it and enjoy. Breakfast to-go!
