Half the time siblings fight like cats and dogs and you’re playing constant referee, so when things like this happen, you just gotta write them down.
Last week John Robert wanted to change his room layout which in turn gave him an empty wall for a small desk. We just so happened to have a very small desk in the shed, so we brought it inside for him. Tears immediately ensued from his sister. She wanted a desk. Her shared room with Millie cannot fit one. She wanted her own room. There are no extra rooms laying around this house. So many tears…so many big feelings.
Emotions died down, but then a few days later I noticed John Robert out by the shed pulling out some wood we had leftover from a recent project. I found him with a hammer and high hopes, hell bent on making his sister a desk.
We sanded the boards, nailed them together, and placed our very simple top on an old electric keyboard stand we had lying around. They then painted it with leftover green paint from the office.
It’s not much…just a few spare boards on a ramshackle stand painted green.
But to her, it’s the best desk in the entire world. Made by her brother with love 💙
