At the beginning of the week I felt so very tired and the margin in our household felt razor thin. So, I scheduled two date nights in the upcoming weeks.
I booked the sitters.
I made the reservations.
And then I texted Nate to put them on his calendar.
I remember back when we were newlyweds and I had this misbelief that Nate needed to always plan the dates. Where’s the romance in me planning it?
Well…I’ll tell you where the romance is:
ON THE DATE!
Without our children.
Alone.
Usually with a stiff drink and lots of carbs.
I have not been married that long, but if there is one thing I have noticed it is that seasons ebb and flow. Sometimes one person has more bandwidth to make the plan. And I know it can feel like a LOT of effort (and money) for a short period of time, but I can say with full confidence the investment pays dividends tenfold. (And I mean I really love Nate, but the effort was worth it for that skillet brownie ????????????)
Mom to four wonderful little people. While they sleep, I cook.
