Nate was on vacation for the majority of the week last week. Knowing this, I went ahead and scheduled myself time away for the very first day I could after his return to reality. I told Nate I would be gone on Sunday from 11:30-6ish and made sure that it worked for him to be home and on full kid duty.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I got a facial, then went and sat outside at a restaurant and had delicious butter chicken, meal planned, read, and did some things for NTK.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know there are some of you for which time away is simply not an option right now. This post is not meant to make you feel bitter or to rub in your face that I got to relax. I sincerely hope you do not feel those things. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This post is simply meant to allow many of you to see that, as a mom to three, my every waking moment of every single day doesn’t have to be for my family or with my family. I do not have to prove myself some sort of martyr.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can deeply love them, and also deeply enjoy time away from them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can know that self care is not Jesus, and also schedule myself a spa treatment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can love and serve my husband, and also let him know that I will be off the clock.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you feel yourself in need of a break, and can ask for help to make it happen, do it. Hire the babysitter. Schedule the date night. Give your kids some uninterrupted time with their father or a loved one. Order the latte and sit in the sunshine. Mother’s Day is not the only day you can do things for yourself guilt-free.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Know how deeply the Lord cares for you, and still care deeply for yourself.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Being a mother and being a human happen simultaneously.
Mom to four wonderful little people. While they sleep, I cook.
